Getting Started Applies to Checklan Alerter 1.3.x Checklan Alerter 4.2.x Checklan Alerter 5.0.x Before to install Checklan Alerter on your server or workstation you need to: Warning: Do not plug USB Key before to install Driver! Install Checklan USB key driver From the Checklan 1.3 CD execute “USB System Driver\USB Driver msi\ SSD5411-32bit.exe” ![]() Select complete mode ![]() ![]() Reboot the station or server ![]() Install the Microsoft® .NET Framework The version 1.1 release of the Microsoft® .NET Framework provides one redistributable installer that contains the common language runtime and .NET Framework components that are necessary to run .NET Framework applications. The .NET Framework redistributable is available as a stand- alone executable file, Dotnetfx.exe. You can install the Dotnetfx.exe from the Checklan Alerter CD or download if from the Microsoft site. Framework SDK, Microsoft® Visual Studio® .NET, or download Dotnetfx.exe from the Web, you have accepted the license agreement for Dotnetfx.exe. For the terms of the license agreement, see: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/dnnetdep/html/redisteula.asp Note: you must select the Dotnetfx.exe corresponding to your Operating System language with LangPack.exe, otherwise use english by default. Install the MDAC 2.7 The .NET Framework requires that MDAC 2.7 or later be installed for any application that includes data access. Like the .NET Framework, MDAC cannot be installed as a part of a deployment project. Microsoft provides MDAC_typ.exe, a stand-alone executable file that can be run to install MDAC. If your application includes data access, you should also add a launch condition to check for MDAC 2.7 or later. You can install the Dotnetfx.exe from the Checklan Alerter CD or download it from the Microsoft site. Configure Regional Options for the Cheklan scheduler Note: This applied only on the station or server where Checklan Alerter software is installed. Checklan Alerter scheduler is working with the 24 hours system, if it is not the case, modify the configuration as follow: ![]() Select Time windows: ![]() Create a Windows account for Checklan Alerter It is recommanded to create a dedicated Windows account for the Checklan Alerter service. If you want to grant to the Checklan service account, the privilege to monitor all the servers and workstations in the domain, or other domain on your network, trusted or not, you will need to add this account in each domain administrator local group. Note:Checklan service account can control services and performance counters on a server or workstation, only if administrator’s rights are granted for this account. This Checklan service account will be the account that will send alarms. Configure Outlook profile for alarms on the Checklan station or server MAPI client is no more available since Checklan Alerter 4.2.x Before to use the MAPI (Outlook) alert mode, you need to open (on the station or server where Checklan Alerter software is installed) a windows session with the Checklan Service account created, install Outlook application by default, declare the mail server, keep all by default with “Global address list “ from “Address” Panel option. for more information see Configuring Outlook for Checklan Alerter Install Checklan Alerter Open a account with sufficient rights to install Checklan Alerter on the station or server, where you want to install it. Run setup.exe or Checklan.msi from the Checklan CD and follow all indications, Checklan installer will ask you to provide the service account who owns rights on the service and will be the windows account that will send alarms. ![]() Configure the Checklan Engine to start automatically Select Computer Management > Service > ChecklanEngine ![]() and verify that the right Checklan service account is configured in the log on panel. Plug the USB Key you will see this information panel ![]() all is now installed. Run Checklan Alerter from start menu Start > Programs > Checklan Alerter > Checklan Console.
